Alvar Aalto Chair 66 for Artek with Zebra Upholstery

Alvar Aalto designed Chair 66 for Artek in the 1930s. These vintage examples combine birch frames with bold black-and-white Zebra upholstery, giving the recognisable Aalto form a more expressive appearance.

The chair uses bent birch legs, a circular upholstered seat and a tall plywood backrest with a sculptural handle-shaped opening. This construction provides useful support while keeping the proportions compact and visually light.

The graphic textile creates a strong contrast with the warm, naturally aged birch. The versatile model works particularly well around a dining table, but can also serve as a desk or individual accent chair.

The chairs are in good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. The frames show surface wear, small marks, patina and some earlier repairs, while the Zebra upholstery remains clean overall. Please review all images for details.
