Jonas Table Lamp in White by Jonas Hidle for Høvik Lys, 1980s

The Jonas table lamp was designed by Norwegian lighting designer Jonas Hidle and manufactured by AS Høvik Lys in Norway during the 1980s. Its broad, layered white metal shade, slender stem and restrained chrome details give the lamp a distinctly graphic profile while producing soft, downward-directed light.

The design belongs to Høvik Lys’s Jonas lighting collection, which also included floor and pendant versions. The table lamp combines a generous circular shade with an offset curved chrome support, allowing the central stem to remain visually light. A polished pull chain provides a simple tactile control and adds a small reflective accent beneath the shade.

This example is made from white-painted and chrome-plated metal. The concentric shade construction screens the light source and creates an even pool of illumination, making the lamp suitable for a desk, side table or low cabinet. Its neutral white finish and clear geometric form work comfortably in both modern and vintage interiors.
